How Faithful Is Your Kiss

If I have sinned against You, draw me near
and kiss my forehead, in which is Your name,
of Christ who died for me and bore my shame.
If You forgive me, wipe away each tear
and speak so comfortably in my ear
so sin shall neither quench our love, our flame,
nor tears shall cool the tongue I cannot tame
except I kiss You when You shall appear.
Your Word says faithful are the wounds of friends,
yet I would never have believed on this
except Your blood was shed, for mercy mends
the breach which truth and justice cannot miss.
For in Your faithful wounds, my judgment ends
so I may know how faithful is Your kiss.
