I have one talent, O my love, but one,
and if I hide my talent in the earth,
what earthly good, then, is my talent worth?
But good and faithful service has begun,
lest when He asks of me, I give Him none,
no cause for celebration nor for mirth,
and where there should be gathering, a dearth
of profit and abundance for His Son.
And you may have one talent, O my bride,
while other servants may have five and two,
but if we fear the Lord and do not hide
the talents He has given me and you,
we shall receive two cities, side by side,
and enter into joy eternal, too.
