Revival of Love: Psonnets and Other Poems of Life, Love, and the Lord

Psonnets of Worship
Sit with This Samaritan

Five husbands had the woman at the well,
yet Christ became her Bridegroom and her Lamb,
and she became a child of Abraham.
But where is Canaan? Where is Ishmael?
And where is Esau next to Israel?
Before lived Abraham, Christ said, "I am,"
the curse of Adam, like the cursed of Ham,
born like a slave, a birthright many sell.
I thirst and thirst again, an empty cup.
Lord, wash away this vanity and strife,
and sit with this Samaritan, and sup.
I am no husband. Lo, I have no wife.
But living waters now are springing up
and fill my cup with everlasting life.
